My Story
I knew music would hold a special place in my life since I was young. I was 14 when I witnessed the impeccable guitar music of Paco de Lucia at Tonhalle in Zurich. It opened up a new world to me which I had no idea existed.
I wanted to be able to recreate those wonderful melodies for myself, so I started to take classical guitar lessons.
The deeper I dove into this magnificent world of guitar sounds, the stronger my fascination became for this instrument. I realized I needed to understand this instrument completely.
As guitar building apprenticeships were rare back then, I was not fortunate enough to obtain one, so I decided to just try it on my own. My parent’s utility room served as the starting point for my first experiments in guitar building. All the while, inspired by Paco de Lucia, I devoted more and more time to improve my guitar skills. To immerse myself even deeper into flamenco music and culture, I studied this art form for several months in Cordoba, Spain. It was an incredible experience that left a big impression on me.
I studied media design in Hamburg and started an advertising agency, but my wish to build guitars stuck with me. The book ‘The Responsive Guitar’ by Ervin Somogyi, which I read in 2016, further reinforced my desire to create something with my own hands. Since then, I spend much of my time in my workshop developing and building my own guitar models.
Creating something with my own hands, putting my signature on a product, and finally building an instrument that sounds beautiful – that is what fulfills me.
If one of my instruments can move someone’s heart like mine was moved when I was 14 years old – that is what gives me joy.
